In the heart of the Neapolitan town, between the Town Hall square and Via Marina, with a dichotomous view between the pleasant Neapolitan gulf and the Angioini Castle, stands Don Raffaele Resort, a luxurious tourist-accommodation structure, housed on the eighth floor of the building, the result of the post-war reconstruction, by the master Marcello Canino.
Research on the building and compositional “type” of the time leads to the recomposition, with evident reinterpretation in a contemporary key, of what was the original art nouveau style. The obstinate search for beauty, between strong colors and decisive lines, combined with wallpapers typical of the years of floral contamination, outlines a decidedly “sui generis” creative mix with a certainly new approach. Located in Naples, an eternal bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean, Don Raffaele Resort looks at the Mediterranean and re-creates with lines and colors a compositional mix suspended between the “strong” Moorish and the “delicate” style of France of those years. The two suites present contemplate a wellness centre, both made with “blue infinity”, they speak of the deep-rooted and visceral relationship with the sea of this turbulent land constantly contaminated by heterogeneous cultures. The alternation of strong lines and colors, with simple and delicate elements, form the skin of this creation, certainly with a driven and experimental artistic profile.
Don Raffaele Resort is an armchair, a privileged point of view on the histrionic Neapolitan town.
